Prolifik for Zapier

Start Zaps when a clip or video is ready in Prolifik, and let your other apps clip videos, make branded videos and schedule posts.

Browse documentation

Prolifik has its own app on Zapier. A Zap can start when a clip or a video is ready in Prolifik, and a Zap step can clip a video, make a batch of branded videos, add a web page to a brand, or post to the social accounts you connected in Prolifik. The app signs in with a Prolifik API key, so every step runs under the same plan limits as the dashboard and the REST API.

What you can automate

A few things stay in the Prolifik dashboard: connecting social accounts, AI Studio, AI influencers, cloning, and clipping a file you upload yourself. Apart from connecting social accounts, the REST API covers all of them.

Connect your Prolifik account

You need a Prolifik account on a paid plan, from €20 a month, and a Zapier account. Accounts on the 7-day free trial cannot create API keys, so the connection works once you pick a plan. Zapier's free plan runs two-step Zaps; the examples below with three or four steps need a paid Zapier plan.

  1. In Prolifik, open Settings > Developer API and create a new key. Call it Zapier. With a key of its own, you can revoke Zapier's access later without breaking your other integrations.
  2. Tick the scopes. For everything the Zapier app can do, tick clipper:read, clipper:write, content:read, content:write and publish:write. The form leaves publish:write off, so tick it yourself if a Zap will use Publish Video or Publish Clip.
  3. Pick an expiry of 30 days, 90 days or 1 year. When the key expires, Zapier marks the connection as expired and asks you to reconnect with a new key, so a longer expiry means fewer interruptions.
  4. Copy the key. It starts with plk_live_ and Prolifik shows it only once.
  5. In Zapier, create a Zap and pick Prolifik as the app for the trigger or for an action. You can also start from Prolifik's page on Zapier.
  6. Choose an event. When Zapier asks for an account, choose to sign in to Prolifik, paste the key into API Key and continue.
  7. Zapier tests the key and names the connection after your active brand and plan, for example Acme Coffee (Pro plan). Test the step to pull in real data from your account.

Treat the key like a password: keep it out of Zap notes, shared documents and screenshots. If it leaks, revoke it in Settings > Developer API, create a new one and reconnect Prolifik in Zapier.

Which scopes each step needs

ScopeWhat the Zapier app uses it for
content:readTesting the connection, New Video, Find Brand, and the brand, social account, video and content source dropdowns
content:writeCreate Videos and Add Content Source
clipper:readNew Clip, the clip and clip account dropdowns, and the account check Publish Clip runs when you pick a Brand
clipper:writeCreate Clips and Publish Clip
publish:writePublish Video and Publish Clip

Publish Clip needs clipper:write and publish:write together, the same posting scope as Publish Video, so a key that can clip cannot post clips until you tick publish:write. Without it, the Zap step fails with a message naming the missing scope. Publish Clip also reads with clipper:read to list your accounts and, when you pick a Brand, to check that the account belongs to it.

Triggers, actions and search

Triggers check for new items on Zapier's polling schedule, which runs every 1 to 15 minutes depending on your Zapier plan. Create Clips and Create Videos queue a job and return its ID straight away. Clipping and rendering take several minutes, so pick up the results with a New Clip or New Video trigger in a second Zap.

StepTypeWhat it doesScope
New ClipTriggerFires once for each clip when a clip job finishes. The optional Source Video URL filter limits it to clips cut from one video; any link to the same YouTube, Twitch or Kick video matches.clipper:read
New VideoTriggerFires when a new video finishes rendering. Optional Brand and Format filters.content:read
Create ClipsActionClips one YouTube, Twitch or Kick video into vertical clips. You set the number of clips, length, video type, spoken language, caption style, layout, aspect ratio and instructions. Uses clip minutes.clipper:write
Create VideosActionMakes 1 to 50 branded videos for a brand in one of the six formats, written from the brand, a content source or your own text. Each video uses one render.content:write
Add Content SourceActionAdds a web page to a brand. Prolifik reads it in about a minute, and Create Videos can then write from it.content:write
Publish VideoActionPosts a rendered video to one or more of the brand's TikTok, Instagram, YouTube or X accounts, now or at a set time. Creates public posts.publish:write
Publish ClipActionPosts a clip to one connected account, now or at a set time. Creates a public post.clipper:write, publish:write, clipper:read
Find BrandSearchFinds a brand by name and returns its Brand ID for later steps.content:read

Fields worth knowing

Five Zaps to start with

The app and event names below are Zapier's own. If one has been renamed since, pick the closest match.

1. Clip every new YouTube upload

  1. Trigger: YouTube, New Video in Channel. Pick your channel.
  2. Action: Prolifik, Create Clips. Map the video's URL from the YouTube step into Video URL, then set the number of clips, length and caption style once.

Clipping is charged by the length of the source video, with a minimum of 5 minutes per job. A one-hour upload uses 60 clip minutes, which is the whole monthly allowance on Lite; Starter includes 360 and Pro 1,400. If your channel also posts Shorts, they can trigger the Zap too and cost 5 minutes each, so add a Filter by Zapier step if you only want to clip long uploads. Use Instructions if you only want certain moments.

2. Save new clips to Google Drive or Dropbox

  1. Trigger: Prolifik, New Clip. Leave Source Video URL empty to catch every clip.
  2. Action: Google Drive, Upload File (or Dropbox, Upload File). Map Video Download URL into the file field and the clip's Title into the file name.

The download link lasts 12 hours at most and can arrive with less time left, so upload in this Zap and keep Delay steps out of it.

3. Send new videos to Slack for review

  1. Trigger: Prolifik, New Video. Set Brand and Format if only some videos need review.
  2. Action: Google Drive, Upload File, with Video Download URL as the file.
  3. Action: Slack, Send Channel Message. Put the Hook Text, the Format and the Drive link in the message.

A video's download link lasts an hour at most, and sometimes only minutes. Copying the file to Drive first means the link in Slack still works when your reviewer gets to it the next morning. Approve or skip the video in the Prolifik Library, then schedule it from there.

4. Log every new video in Google Sheets

  1. Trigger: Prolifik, New Video.
  2. Action: Google Sheets, Create Spreadsheet Row. Map Video ID, Format, Hook Text, Created At and Expires At into columns.

You get a running record of what Prolifik made for each brand. Expires At is the day Prolifik deletes a video that nobody scheduled or posted, so sort by it to see which videos to use first.

5. Turn new blog posts into videos

  1. Trigger: RSS by Zapier, New Item in Feed, with your blog's feed URL. Google Sheets, New Spreadsheet Row works the same way with a column of links.
  2. Action: Prolifik, Add Content Source. Map the item's link into Page URL.
  3. Action: Delay by Zapier, Delay For, 3 minutes. Prolifik needs about a minute to read the page.
  4. Action: Prolifik, Create Videos. Pick the brand and format, and map Content Source ID from step 2 into Content source.

To use your own wording instead of a web page, skip steps 2 and 3 and map a sheet column into Your own text. Prolifik runs one job per format at a time, so when a feed publishes several posts at once, the second run can stop with "A content job for this format is already running." Zapier's Autoreplay setting, on plans that have it, runs the failed step again later.
