The Prolifik MCP server lets an AI assistant work inside your Prolifik account. Claude, ChatGPT, Codex or any other MCP client can clip a YouTube video into vertical shorts, check on a clip job, read your brands, produce a batch of branded videos, and post or schedule the results to the social accounts you connected in Prolifik. It exposes 60 tools, and it runs on the same service code, plan limits and ownership checks as the Prolifik dashboard.
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Server URL | https://app.getprolifik.com/mcp |
| Transport | Streamable HTTP (stateless, no session to keep alive) |
| Sign-in | OAuth with your Prolifik account, or a Prolifik API key as a bearer token |
| Who can connect | Any Prolifik account on an active paid plan: Lite, Starter, Pro or Enterprise |
| Tools | 60, each with a title and a read-only or destructive hint |
Before you connect
- A paid plan. The server refuses accounts without an active Lite, Starter, Pro or Enterprise subscription and answers with a link to app.getprolifik.com/pricing. Plans start at €20 a month. AI Studio and Cloning tools also need Starter or higher.
- A finished Prolifik sign-up. Create your account at app.getprolifik.com and add at least one brand. The assistant can create brands too, but it is easier to start with one.
- Connected social accounts, if you want to post. The assistant posts only to accounts you already connected in the dashboard under Settings > Social media accounts. It cannot connect new ones. See Social accounts.
Connect Claude
Add it once on the web or in the desktop app and it is available in Claude on the web, desktop and mobile.
- Open Settings > Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
- Name it
Prolifikand pastehttps://app.getprolifik.com/mcpas the server URL. Leave the OAuth client fields empty. - Choose Connect. A Prolifik sign-in page opens at accounts.getprolifik.com. Sign in with your Prolifik account and approve access.
- Start a new chat, open the tools menu and make sure Prolifik is switched on. Then ask for something, for example "List my Prolifik brands."
On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner may need to add the connector for the organization first under Admin settings > Connectors. After that, each member connects their own Prolifik account.
What Claude can use. Claude, Claude Code and the other Claude apps get 39 of the 60 tools: Clipper, content, brands, publishing and usage. The AI Studio, AI influencer and cloning tools generate images and video with AI models, so the server does not offer them to Claude. Use them in the Prolifik dashboard, or from ChatGPT, Codex or an API key client.
Connect Claude Code
Add the server from your terminal:
claude mcp add --transport http prolifik https://app.getprolifik.com/mcp
Then, inside Claude Code, run /mcp, select prolifik and choose Authenticate. Your browser opens the Prolifik sign-in page. When you return, the tools are ready. Add --scope user to the first command to make the server available in every project.
Connect ChatGPT
ChatGPT calls custom MCP servers apps (earlier, connectors). Adding your own needs developer mode, which depends on your ChatGPT plan and, in a workspace, on your admin.
- In ChatGPT, open Settings > Apps, then Advanced settings, and turn on Developer mode.
- Choose Create app. Name it
Prolifik, pastehttps://app.getprolifik.com/mcpas the MCP server URL, and pick OAuth for authentication. - Sign in with your Prolifik account when the window opens, then turn the app on in a new chat.
ChatGPT renames these menus from time to time. If the labels differ, look for the place to add a custom MCP server: the URL and the OAuth choice are all it needs.
Connect Codex
In the Codex CLI:
codex mcp add prolifik --url https://app.getprolifik.com/mcp
codex mcp login prolifik
The second command opens the Prolifik sign-in page in your browser. If you prefer to edit ~/.codex/config.toml by hand, the entry is:
[mcp_servers.prolifik]
url = "https://app.getprolifik.com/mcp"
Other clients: connect with an API key
Use an API key for clients that cannot do OAuth, for scripts, and for servers that run without a person present.
- In the Prolifik dashboard, open Settings > Developer API and create a key. Pick the scopes the client needs and an expiry of 30, 90 or 365 days.
- Copy the key. It starts with
plk_live_and is shown once. Prolifik stores only a hash of it. - Send it on every request as
Authorization: Bearer <key>. Most clients accept a config like this (Cursor, Windsurf and similar):
{
"mcpServers": {
"prolifik": {
"url": "https://app.getprolifik.com/mcp",
"headers": {
"Authorization": "Bearer plk_live_REPLACE_ME"
}
}
}
}
The key names differ between clients, but every one needs the same two things: the server URL and that header. Never put a key in frontend code, a URL or a public repository. If a key may have leaked, revoke it in Settings > Developer API.
How sign-in and permissions work
OAuth. Prolifik uses Clerk as its sign-in provider (clerk.getprolifik.com). The server advertises its authorization server at https://app.getprolifik.com/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource/mcp, so clients find the sign-in flow on their own after the first unauthenticated request returns 401. Clients register themselves and use PKCE; there is no client ID or secret to copy. An OAuth connection gets every tool. To disconnect, remove the connector in your client.
API keys. A key sees only the tools its scopes allow. Write scopes do not include read scopes, so give a key both when it needs both.
| Scope | What it allows |
|---|---|
content:read | Read brands, sources, media library, content jobs, pieces, usage and publish records |
content:write | Create and edit brands and sources, run content jobs, edit, retry and delete pieces |
clipper:read | Read clip jobs, clips, clip minutes and clip publish history |
clipper:write | Create and cancel clip jobs, upload sources, post clips. Uses clip minutes |
studio:read | Read AI Studio models, credits, generations, influencers and cloning jobs |
studio:write | Queue AI generations, manage influencers, clone posts. Spends AI credits |
publish:write | Post or schedule content to social accounts, edit or cancel queued posts |
What you can do
Ask in plain language. The assistant picks the tools. A few requests that work today, with the tools they call:
"Clip this podcast episode into 5 vertical shorts with karaoke captions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=..."
Checks your balance with get_clip_minutes, queues the job with create_clip_job, then polls get_clip_job_status.
"Is my clip job done yet? Give me the download links and the hook of each clip."
list_clip_jobs, get_clip_job_status, get_clip_job (download links stay valid for 7 days).
"Which brands do I have in Prolifik, and how does the Acme brand describe its audience?"
list_brands, get_brand.
"Make 5 caption memes for Acme about our new pricing page, with the logo on."
create_content_source to read the page, create_content_job with the caption-card format, then get_content_job until the videos are rendered.
"Schedule the clip with the highest virality score to my TikTok for tomorrow at 9:00 New York time."
get_clip_job, list_publish_destinations, publish_clip with scheduledFor.
"How many renders and clip minutes do I have left this month?"
get_usage, get_clip_minutes.
Clip jobs and content jobs run in the background and usually take several minutes. The assistant gets a job ID straight away and checks back when you ask, or keeps polling if your client lets it.

Limits and metering
The server applies the same plan rules as the dashboard. Nothing you do through MCP skips a quota.
- Requests. 120 requests per minute per API key. All OAuth connections of one Prolifik account share one allowance. Expensive calls have their own tighter windows: clip jobs 10 per minute and 30 per hour per account, content jobs 5 per minute, AI generations 5 per minute, new sources 10 per minute, new brands 5 per minute, and each cloning action 10 per 10 minutes. A call over a limit fails with a rate-limit error; wait for the window to reset.
- Clip minutes. Clipping is metered in minutes of source video: 60 a month on Lite, 360 on Starter, 1,400 on Pro, unlimited on Enterprise. The worker charges the real duration and refunds failed jobs.
get_clip_minutesshows what is left. - Renders. Every successful content render counts against a monthly budget: 1,000 on Lite, 2,000 on Starter, 4,000 on Pro, unlimited on Enterprise. Retries and edits render again and count too. A content job that needs more renders than you have left is refused before it starts.
get_usageshows the numbers. - Kept videos. Downloading, scheduling or posting a piece counts toward your plan's monthly videos (20 on Lite, 100 on Starter, 500 on Pro). Each piece counts once.
- AI credits. AI Studio and Cloning spend credits from the monthly allowance (250 on Starter, 1,000 on Pro) plus any packs you bought.
- Idempotency keys. Tools that queue work, spend quota or post take an
idempotencyKeyargument (8 to 128 characters, kept for 24 hours). Your AI client fills it in. If a call is retried with the same key, Prolifik returns the first result instead of starting a second job or charging twice. Reusing a key with different arguments is refused. - Request size. A single MCP request body is capped at 128 KB. Upload video files through the upload-link tools, never inside a tool call.
What the assistant can and cannot change
- Posting is real.
publish_clip,publish_content,distribute_clone_jobandretry_clip_publishcreate posts on your connected Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and X accounts that your followers can see. A scheduled post can be edited or cancelled until it goes out. - Confirmation. Every tool declares whether it is read-only and whether it is destructive, so your client can tell a lookup from a change. Claude asks for your permission before it uses a connector tool, and you choose per tool whether it keeps asking. Keep approval on for the publishing and destructive tools.
- Spending. Clip jobs use clip minutes, content jobs use renders, and AI Studio and Cloning spend credits. Ask the assistant to check
get_usage,get_clip_minutesorestimate_clonefirst if cost matters. - Not available through MCP. Connecting or disconnecting social accounts, billing and credit-pack checkout, brand logo upload, automation schedules, the Library calendar and analytics, and clip re-trimming stay in the dashboard.
Privacy and data
The server reads and changes data only in the Prolifik account you signed in with. Every tool call goes through the same ownership checks as the dashboard, so one account can never see another account's brands, clips or posts. The server never receives your social network passwords: social accounts are connected inside Prolifik, and the tools can only list them and post through them. Media links the tools return are signed and expire. Your sign-in token is never handed to the tools themselves.
How Prolifik collects, uses and stores data is covered by the Privacy Policy. To stop access, remove the connector in your client, or revoke the API key in Settings > Developer API.
Troubleshooting
- "Connecting Prolifik needs an active paid plan" (403). The account has no active subscription. Pick a plan at app.getprolifik.com/pricing, then connect again.
- "Finish setting up your Prolifik account" (403). Sign in once at app.getprolifik.com to finish creating the account, then connect again.
- 401 Unauthorized. The sign-in expired or the API key was revoked or expired. Reconnect, or create a new key.
- A tool you expect is missing. API keys only show tools for their scopes. Create a key with the scope you need, or connect with OAuth to get every tool.
- An AI Studio or Cloning tool says your plan does not include it. Those tools need Starter, Pro or Enterprise.
- A tool says a quota or credit balance is used up. The month's clip minutes, renders, videos or credits have run out.
get_usage,get_clip_minutesandget_studio_creditsshow which. - A post failed. Ask for
list_clip_publishesorget_content_publishto see the reason. An expired social login is the usual cause: reconnect that account in the dashboard, then retry.
