YouTube Shorts money calculator
Enter your monthly Shorts views and your niche. See what YouTube Shorts ads would pay you, how that compares with long-form, and whether you have reached the Partner Program threshold yet.
YouTube Shorts pay roughly USD 0.03 to 0.30 per 1,000 views once a channel is monetized. That is why 1 million Shorts views a month usually earns USD 30 to 300, not thousands. This calculator multiplies your views by typical RPM bands for your niche so you can plan with realistic numbers.
Estimate your Shorts earnings

The formula behind the estimate
Monthly Shorts revenue = (monetized Shorts views ÷ 1,000) × Shorts RPM. RPM is what you receive per 1,000 views after YouTube's share. It is not CPM, which is what advertisers pay before the split.
Shorts revenue works differently from long-form. Ads run between Shorts in the feed, the money goes into a shared pool, music licensing is paid first, and creators receive 45 percent of what is left, allocated by view share. On long-form you keep 55 percent of the ads on your own videos. That is why the long-form column above is so much higher for the same views.
The bands are typical, not averages, and they overlap. An audience mostly in the US, UK, Canada or Australia earns toward the top. A mostly global audience earns toward the bottom, even in a finance niche.

YouTube Partner Program thresholds
- Shorts path: 1,000 subscribers plus 10 million valid public Shorts views in the last 90 days.
- Long-form path: 1,000 subscribers plus 4,000 valid public watch hours in the last 12 months.
- Lower tier: 500 subscribers with 3,000 watch hours or 3 million Shorts views unlocks memberships and Super Thanks, not ad revenue.
- Policy: reused or mass-produced content without original value can be refused. Read whether faceless videos can be monetized before you scale.
Shorts pay in reach, not RPM
For most brands and creators, Shorts ad revenue is a rounding error. The value is reach: Shorts put you in front of new viewers every day, and those viewers subscribe, click through to long-form, visit your site or buy. That is why consistency matters more than any single video.
The hard part is volume. Posting a Short every day means scripting, editing, captioning and uploading every day. Prolifik turns one link or one long video into a batch of captioned Shorts in your brand, lets you approve them in one Library and posts them to YouTube Shorts, TikTok and Instagram Reels on a schedule. Plans start at €20 a month; see pricing.
YouTube Shorts earnings questions
How much does YouTube Shorts pay per 1,000 views?
Most monetized Shorts channels earn roughly USD 0.03 to 0.30 per 1,000 views (RPM). Finance and business niches sit at the top of that band, entertainment and ambient content at the bottom. Audience country, season and music use move the number a lot.
How many views do you need to make money on YouTube Shorts?
You need to be in the YouTube Partner Program first: 1,000 subscribers plus 10 million valid public Shorts views in the last 90 days. After that, 1 million Shorts views a month typically pays USD 30 to 300, depending on niche.
Why do Shorts pay so much less than long-form videos?
Shorts ad revenue goes into a shared pool. Music licensing is paid first, and creators receive 45 percent of what is left, split by view share. Long-form creators keep 55 percent of the ads shown on their own videos, so the same views earn far more.
Is this calculator accurate?
It is an estimate, not a forecast. It multiplies your views by typical RPM bands per niche, drawn from YouTube documentation, published creator data and network reports as of September 2026. Your own RPM in YouTube Analytics always wins, so enter it in the custom RPM field when you have it.
