Make a carousel when the viewer needs to understand an idea or sequence. Make a demo video when seeing the actual action matters. To choose between them for an app feature, draft both around the same task and check which treatment gives the viewer the answer your available source can support.
The exercise below uses a fictional habit app called Loopnote. Its sample feature lets a person move one planned task to another day. The slide copy and shot plan are authored examples, not actual generated Prolifik outputs, real product screenshots or measured conversion results.
Give both versions the same useful question
Use “How do I move a planned task without creating a second copy?” as the shared question. Keep the task, condition and next step consistent. Otherwise, you may compare a useful tutorial with an unrelated announcement and mistake the difference in job for a difference in format.
The existing video carousel guide covers building a timed slide sequence. This comparison concerns one specific app feature, with an authored carousel plan beside a recording plan. It does not rank every short-video format.
Confirm that your actual app supports the action before substituting it into the example. A script cannot establish that moving the task preserves the same object. If that detail matters, verify it with current behavior or documentation.
Write the carousel as a compact explanation
Here is a five-slide plan for the fictional feature. The suggested visuals explain the task without imitating a real app screen.
| Slide | Authored copy | Honest visual treatment |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | “Change the day. Keep the same task.” | One physical task card beside two day spaces |
| 2 | “Open the task you already planned.” | A simple diagram selecting the existing card |
| 3 | “Choose the new day.” | The same card moving to the other space |
| 4 | “Check it appears once on the new day.” | One card in the new position, no duplicate |
| 5 | “Try it on one task in Loopnote.” | The product name and relevant next-step label |
The diagram is explanatory art. If you use real screenshots instead, capture them from a permitted account and keep the decisive details readable. Do not use a plausible generated interface as evidence of an actual feature.
For a timed carousel video, let the copy determine reading time. Prolifik also supports publishing finished image slides as an Instagram carousel when that output and destination are available. Do not assume the same delivery type on every platform. Check whether you are making image slides or a video sequence before choosing the publishing path.
Plan the demo around the same object
For the demo version, begin with the real task on its original day. Show the date-change action, then open the new day and display the task once. The visual continuity is the proof: the viewer sees the same task moving, rather than a cut between unrelated before and after screens.
An authored opener could be “Move the task you already made.” The bridge names the action while the recording shows it. Close after the new position is clear, with a next step that continues the task.
Use the product demo script guide to match each line to the action and result. In Prolifik's Hook & Demo flow, supply your own current recording. Website context supports the brand brief; it does not automatically film the feature.
Choose from the viewer's missing information
If the viewer mainly needs the difference between moving and duplicating, the carousel can explain the distinction clearly. If they need to recognize the actual control and confirm the saved result, the demonstration carries information the diagram cannot provide.
Choose the carousel when you lack a suitable recording but have a verified explanation and useful visuals. Choose the demo when you have a readable recording of the required action. If you have neither, obtain a better source before making a public promise.
Do not rely on a generic assertion that carousels get more saves or demos convert better. Those claims do not establish what works for your source, account or task. Here, the selection criteria are comprehension and evidence fit.
Make the chosen version, then check its actual output
For a carousel in Prolifik, provide the task, authored slide intent and suitable uploaded or selected imagery where needed. Treat a script-only helper as a drafting tool; the finished creative still needs design or rendering through the appropriate creation workflow.
For Hook & Demo, provide the real recording and the narrow action brief. Watch the result at phone size. Check whether the opening promised the same task and whether the visual proof survived the vertical treatment.
The two treatments can both be useful when they answer different remaining questions. Publish them as explanation and demonstration, not as interchangeable copies competing for the same slot. Use Prolifik's format library to choose the creation workflow that fits the version you can honestly make.
Choose the format that fits your evidence
Compare the source requirements for an explanation and a recorded action before creating.
