How to calculate TikTok engagement rate
For a video, add likes, comments and shares, then divide by video views and multiply by 100. To measure engagement relative to the account's audience, divide by followers instead.
A video with 800 likes, 40 comments and 60 shares on 20,000 views has a 4.50% rate by views. With 5,000 followers, it has an 18.00% rate by followers.
Measure a set of TikTok videos
Choose a window such as your last 10 videos. Enter their combined likes, comments, shares and views. Dividing combined interactions by combined views weights the result toward videos that received more views.
When you choose followers, set the number of posts too. For 3,000 interactions across 10 posts and 5,000 followers, the average follower-based rate is 6.00%: 3,000 ÷ (5,000 × 10) × 100.
Use the rate to choose your next test
Group videos by opening, subject or format. Compare similar lengths over the same number of days. A strong engagement rate on a small audience can suggest an angle worth testing again, but it does not measure watch time, sales or qualified views for creator payouts.
Use the TikTok money calculator to model income separately, or draft the first screen in the profile template.
What is a good TikTok engagement rate?
There is no single percentage that fits every account. Audience size, content category, paid distribution and the denominator all change the result. Use a consistent sample from your account as a baseline, then compare changes.
Are saves included?
This calculator uses likes, comments and shares so the formula stays clear. It does not include saves, video completion or profile visits. Compare it only with rates using the same interactions.
Publish the videos you want to test
