Choose Claude or ChatGPT for video creation by checking what the connected service exposes to that client. An assistant can help write a script without being able to run the renderer, upload a local recording or publish the finished file.
For Prolifik, one difference is explicit: the supported Claude OAuth connection can use content, clipping, brand and publishing tools, but it does not expose AI Studio or cloning tools. A supported ChatGPT connection can access those groups when the account and permissions allow them.
Disclosure: Prolifik publishes this article and uses its own integration as the concrete comparison. We checked the linked official documentation on October 24, 2026, and rechecked the deployed Prolifik publishing source on November 2, 2026. This is not a model-quality benchmark or a claim that either assistant produced better videos in a test.
Compare a specific request rather than the model names
Consider three different tasks: turn accepted copy into a Text Story, cut excerpts from an owned interview, and generate a model-based visual. They may all sound like make a video, but the service calls and inputs differ.
For the first two, either client can be suitable when its authenticated Prolifik connection exposes the relevant tools. For the third, the Prolifik Studio exclusion in Claude changes the decision. It is not a prompting problem you should try to solve with a more forceful request.
A separate tool connected to Claude may have its own supported media workflow. That does not mean Prolifik's restricted tools become available, and it does not make the resulting provider, costs or permissions interchangeable.
The Prolifik workflow matrix
| Task through Prolifik | Supported Claude OAuth connection | Supported ChatGPT connection |
|---|---|---|
| Read brands and supported account information | Within exposed tools and permissions | Within exposed tools and permissions |
| Create Content Studio pieces | Supported tool group | Supported tool group |
| Create and retrieve clip jobs | Supported tool group | Supported tool group |
| Generate through AI Studio | Not exposed | Requires eligible plan and tool access |
| Use cloning tools | Not exposed | Requires eligible plan and tool access |
| Publish accepted content | Explicit authorization and available destination required | Explicit authorization and available destination required |
The table describes Prolifik's integration contract, not every capability of Claude or ChatGPT. Check the actual tools returned after sign-in instead of relying on a remembered total.
For task-specific instructions, use the existing Claude video workflow or ChatGPT Reels workflow. This comparison helps decide which one fits before you repeat setup steps.
Keep Prolifik's product boundaries visible
Prolifik provides six formats in Content Studio: Image Carousel, Text Story, Meme Reaction, B-Roll Montage, Caption Meme and Video Hook & Demo. Brand Intelligence applies website-derived positioning and editable rules. You can review outputs before publishing. Exports have no watermark imposed by Prolifik.
Every paid plan includes AI Clipping with plan-specific source-minute allowances. Direct posting supports Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and X, plus LinkedIn organization connections with posts permission. A connected account and eligible media are still required. This does not establish personal-profile posting or the same controls in every client.
Current plans start at €20 per month before applicable VAT. Prolifik offers a 7-day free trial with no card required, not an ongoing free plan. API keys need a paid plan; supported trial MCP access uses OAuth. Studio generation and cloning have additional plan restrictions, so assistant access alone does not unlock them.
Check the client surface you will actually use
Anthropic distinguishes remote connectors from desktop extensions that can access local systems. OpenAI's current custom-MCP documentation describes connecting a remote server through a plugin, subject to workspace permissions and security controls. Neither fact proves your current conversation can read a file from your computer and upload it.
For an owned app recording, check file access and HTTP transfer separately. Prolifik can return a signed upload URL, but a client still needs an appropriate way to send the bytes. Use a supported dashboard or local upload route when the conversation cannot perform that step.
Do not follow an old menu path indefinitely if the current account interface differs. Consult the assistant vendor's current official setup guidance and confirm the connection with a read-only call.
Ask for an outcome the tool can prove
For a fictional inventory app, a precise initial task is one accepted Text Story using supplied copy, returned for review without posting. The evidence is a real job ID, a current piece record and playable media containing the accepted words.
The assistant's written script is not a rendered video. A render acceptance is not a ready file. If the chat cannot keep observing the job, retain its identifier and retrieve it later rather than ask a new session to recreate the work.
For Hook & Demo, supply real recording footage and remember that its original audio is replaced with music or silence. Do not select the client based on a promised narration workflow that the chosen format does not preserve.
Keep review and publication separate on either client
Inspect the rendered copy, source meaning, crop and actual media before approving publication. Confirm connected destinations and exact timing. An assistant that can call publishing tools should still respect the authorization boundary of the request.
Workspace controls, account plan and vendor tool availability can all change. Preserve a small capability checklist with the production record rather than declaring one assistant permanently best for video.
Use the Prolifik MCP guide to match the requested task to current tools. Choose the client that can perform your actual authorized workflow and return inspectable evidence, while keeping unsupported tool groups out of the promise.
Choose the client that exposes the needed tools
Inspect the authenticated tool list and current account requirements, then use the matching Prolifik workflow.
