Five concepts run through every screen in Prolifik. Reading this once will save you confusion later.
1. Brand
A brand is the unit Prolifik writes content for. It holds:
- A homepage URL (the source of truth for auto-analysis).
- A logo and a color palette (extracted automatically; you can override).
- Tone & Voice rules — up to 10 Do's and 10 Don'ts that constrain every script.
- Content Angles — reusable strategic themes that guide ideation.
- Identity & Product — Core Identity, Product Offering, Unique Benefits, Problem Solved.
- Purpose & Positioning — Mission, Why Care, Differentiation, Brand Resonance, Owned Space.
- Market & Competition — customer segments (with percentage splits) and named competitors.
- A posting schedule — timezone, active days, and time-of-day slots.
A workspace can hold many brands. The brand selector at the top-left of the app switches the active brand. Most pages (Calendar, Library, Analytics, Automations) can filter by brand or show all brands at once.
2. Format
A format is the visual structure of the video. Prolifik ships five:
| Format | What it is | When to reach for it |
|---|---|---|
| Image Carousel | Slides with bold text overlays and audio | Education, listicles, product showcases — highest save rate |
| Text Story | Bold word-by-word text over video | Hot takes, tips, opinion pieces — fastest to produce |
| Meme Reaction | AI avatar reacts on screen while content plays behind | Viral, native to TikTok/Reels |
| Clip Montage | Cinematic b-roll with AI overlay text and audio | Lifestyle, vlog-style, evergreen |
| Video Hook & Demo | Reaction-style hook → product demo | Direct response, traffic to product |
Pick a format per piece — or generate the same idea across multiple formats and let Pulse decide which lands.

3. Piece (a.k.a. video, a.k.a. script)
A piece is one output. It moves through these states:
generated → rendering → ready → scheduled → posted
│ │ │
│ │ └─→ failed
│ └─→ skipped (in Pulse)
└─→ failed (rendering error)
- Generated — the script exists; the visuals haven't rendered yet.
- Rendering — the renderer is producing the final MP4 / image stack.
- Ready — visuals are done; piece is awaiting your decision in Pulse, or has been auto-queued (depending on automation settings).
- Scheduled — picked up a slot on the Calendar; will publish automatically.
- Posted — live on at least one connected platform.
- Failed — render or publish failed; the Calendar surfaces a retry.
A rejected Pulse piece does not count against your monthly credit cap. A regenerated piece counts as a new piece.
4. Manual content vs automation
You generate pieces in one of two ways:
| Manual content | Automation | |
|---|---|---|
| Quantity | 1 piece per click | 25, 100, 250, 500, or 1,000 pieces in one go |
| Where | /content/{format} | /automations/new |
| Best for | A specific idea you want exact | Filling a calendar fast, batching a topic |
| Render mode | Always renders to Library | "Render now & decide later" → Library + Pulse, or "Render & download zip" |
| Source label in Library | MANUAL | AUTOMATION |
You can mix the two on the same brand and the same format. Pulse and the Library treat them identically.
5. Slots and the posting schedule
A slot is a (day-of-week, time-of-day) combination on a brand's posting schedule. Example: Mon 09:00, Mon 19:00, Tue 09:00, Tue 19:00 is a 4-slot weekly cadence with two posts a day on weekdays only.
When a piece is approved, it's queued to the next available slot for its brand. Off-days are skipped — after the last slot of your last active day of the week, the queue jumps to the first slot of the next active day.
You can override the chosen slot from the Calendar by dragging a piece to a different day, or by clicking Schedule new post for an ad-hoc slot.
Things that often confuse new users
- A "video" in Prolifik means a rendered piece, not a script. Your monthly cap (200 / 1,000 / unlimited) is on rendered pieces. Generated-but-skipped scripts are free.
- Image Carousels are videos. They count the same as Text Stories or Meme Reactions toward your monthly cap. The export format is video; the underlying slides are images.
- One automation = many pieces, but it's billed by piece. A 250-piece automation bills as 250 against your monthly cap.
- Brand Intelligence is per-brand, not per-workspace. Each brand has its own analysis, voice rules, and angles. Switching brands switches everything.
- Pulse is optional but recommended. If you set an automation to render-and-download-zip, pieces never enter Pulse. If you set it to "decide later," they do, and you swipe.
- Performance analytics are Instagram-first. Other platforms post fine; reading back insights for them is on the roadmap.
